The Batic: A Premium Hand-Woven Geometric Kelim
The Batic is a hand-woven geometric kelim from Mae Artisan Rugs. Part of our
Kelim Collection, this flat-weave rug is woven in India from 80% wool and 20% cotton using traditional techniques passed down through generations of weavers. The Batic pattern features bold geometric shapes that bring structure and visual rhythm to any room.
Artisanal Quality and Materials
Crafted with 80% wool and 20% cotton, the Batic is built for everyday life. The wool provides natural warmth and durability, while the cotton core keeps the flat-weave structure stable and prevents the geometric pattern from warping over time. Our yarns are batch-dyed by hand, which means each rug develops subtle, organic colour variations known as abrash. No two Batic kelims are identical.
Styling Your Batic Kelim
The geometric pattern of the Batic works across a wide range of interiors. In modern and minimalist spaces, it adds a layer of visual interest without overpowering the room. In eclectic or bohemian settings, the bold shapes hold their own alongside patterned cushions and textured fabrics. Because it is a flat-weave with no pile, the Batic sits neatly under furniture, making it a practical choice for dining rooms, living areas, and hallways.
Care and Longevity
Vacuum regularly on a low-suction setting without a beater bar. For spills, blot immediately with a clean, damp cloth. Since this is a handmade item using natural fibres, professional cleaning is recommended every 12 to 18 months. Rotating the rug every six months ensures even wear. Learn more about
